Open Access Week event organised at Osmania University, Hyderabad
To mark the 8th International Open Access Week (19th -25th October 2015), the Post Graduate College Secunderabad (PGCS) Library, Osmania University, Telangana State in collaboration with Open Access India organised one day event entitled Open Access for Quality Research on 31st October 2015 at the PGCS campus.
For the event, Prof. V. VishwaMohan was the chief guest. In his message he said the technology had come in a big way in teaching, learning, and research and added that academicians and researchers could immensely get benefited by the Open Access (OA) movement where access to thousands of OA journals and billions of books are available freely. Later in the session on OA resoruces, Dr. A. S. Chakravarthi had enlightened the audience about OA resources available online. Dr. S. Yadagiri who was the president of the programme had asked the students to utilize the library facilities as well as OA resources to the full extent possible and get benefited.
Prof G. Lalaiah, Principal, PGCS, O.U. was the Director of the program and Mr. B. Kishan, Librarian of PGCS was the Convenor of the program.
Dr. Achala Munigal, Librarian Research and Training Unit for Navigational Electronics (NERTU), O.U. and Convener of the South Zone Open Access India who was the Co-Convenor of the program had informed the audience about the Open Access India Community and its activities and how the librarians are working and contributing towards creating awareness about the open access movement in the country.
To this event, PGCS Staff and students attended the program in large number and made it a grand success.
